HOW THESE ALMOND WOOD AWARDS HONOR SUSTAINABILITY

Our recent project with NextEra Energy celebrates an environmentally-conscious partnership with a unique material. The almond wood used to handcraft these custom awards was sourced directly from The Wonderful Company's own orchard where NextEra Energy was just contracted to build a 157 acre solar installation.

The recognition-worthy goal of this green alliance is for Wonderful Co. to have 100% renewable electricity by 2025.

The innovative idea to place solar power on agricultural land is a response to water supply issues. Farmers can maximize their land and help the environment by making space for solar farms on top of soil that is no longer suitable for planting. NextEra Energy's project is generating clean, emissions-free electricity just adjacent to almond trees.

We were proud to be a part of this effort and felt the awards came together particularly beautifully. Almond wood is not one of our established species, so it was a rare experience to create with this dense, smooth, and weighty material. The finished pieces are significant mementos with a warm and ranging tone of color and dynamic grain pattern.
